The Delaware County Assessment Center is a community-based service of the Delaware County Juvenile Court. The purpose of the Assessment Center is to provide early intervention support for youth and families outside of the court system and to prevent out-of-home placement due to family instability.
The Assessment Center serves at-risk youth, ages 11-17 and provides consultation services for youth aged 5-10. The following areas of concern can be addressed at the Assessment Center:
- Habitual not following home or school rules
- No current support services
- Substance abuse issues
- Potential out-of-home placement
- Frequent contact with law enforcement
- Parenting support
- Mental health issues
- Lack of basic resources
The following services are provided at the Assessment Center:
- Assessments
- Referral to mental health services
- Service linkage
- Diversion programming
- Referral to home-based counseling
- Crisis/safety planning
Who can make referrals:
- Parents/guardians
- School personnel
- Community agencies
- Law enforcement
